Sita is known to be the most perfect model of a devoted wife and ideal mother. Rama, her male counterpart. Together, and for centuries, they have now been at the core of faith of millions of Indians who find in them the prime source of their spiritual energy as well as material well-being, a ladder that leads to salvation as also to mundane heights, a model for righteous living, ideal home and perfect society, and a stay to tag with all their woes and miseries, achievements and failures, prospects and disappointments, strength and weaknesses. Sita, like Rama, her husband, seems to be one beyond time.
